DraftKings expands its responsible gambling efforts
DraftKings, the largest sports entertainment and gaming firm, has announced a new partnership with BetBlocker, the foremost non-profit charity dedicated to responsible gaming and safer play. The partnership, which was announced on Tuesday, will promote awareness of and facilitate access to BetBlocker's leading software.
BetBlocker is currently the iGaming industry's first free tool that allows individuals to self-restrict their play across different devices. The free application monitors thousands of gaming websites around the world and can even blacklist unregistered companies.
BetBlocker users can benefit from restricting their gaming for various time periods such as days, weeks, months, or even years. Furthermore, the software solution has calendar blocking capabilities, allowing users to block specific days of the week.
DraftKings' S.E.R.V.E.S. (Service, Equity, Responsible Gaming, Vitality, Entrepreneurship, and Sports) corporate social responsibility program is complemented by the recent agreement with BetBlocker. The initiative is centered on responsible gaming and aims to promote safer play through education, staff training, and technology, among other resources.
Finally, BetBlocker and other stakeholders back DraftKings' program. DraftKings promotes their responsible gaming strategy through retail stores and social media channels, in addition to employee training, evidence-based research, and customer education. Furthermore, through its State Council Funding Program, the business is the only industry operator in the United States to financially assist all US state councils as well as affiliates of the National Council on Problem Gambling.
"BetBlocker is thrilled to have the support of sports betting and gaming industry giant, DraftKings, to extend our software outside of the UK and Europe, to players in the United States and Canada," said BetBlocker's Chief of Safer Gambling Partnerships, Pedro Romero, in a statement released on Tuesday, June 14, 2022.
He stated that the non-profit charity is impressed by DraftKings' efforts and leadership in responsible gaming. Romero expressed gratitude for the financial assistance and stated that BetBlocker is looking forward to increasing awareness of responsible play technology. Finally, he encouraged other operators to follow DraftKings' lead and go "above and above what is required region by area to guarantee all players have the knowledge and tools to wager properly."
"BetBlocker's contributions to safer play are commendable," said Chrissy Thurmond, DraftKings' Senior Director of Responsible Gaming. "DraftKings is pleased to team up with this enterprising and disruptive not-for-profit that is advancing responsible gaming in a comprehensive and consumer-friendly manner."
She went on to say that DraftKings and BetBlocker have the same goal of encouraging responsible gambling. Thurmond believes that ethical play requires both technology and ingenuity. Finally, she stated that the company is looking forward to working with BetBlocker to extend the charity's footprint in North America and disseminate its software.
